I love Sundays and always try to stretch them out as much as I can. This year March 9 fell on a Sunday, and I started the day with a run through a forested park, I sest out early while it was still cool outside. When I got home I had breakfast and finished the novel Perras de Reserva, which was recently nominated for the International Booker Prize (the English title is Reservoir Bitches). Then I took the metro up to an exhibit of Gabriel Orozco’s work at a museum in Polanco, a ritzy part of Mexico City. From there I walked and bussed to La Condesa, where a friend and I watched a play called Casas Vacías in the Foro Shakespeare. The play was powerful and painful. Afterward, I walked the tree lined parks and streets of La Condesa to Insurgentes Avenue, where I took the Metrobus back to the apartment where I stay when I’m in the city. Before bed, I started a new novel called The Book of Disappearance, which was also nominated for the International Booker this year…
