TOM SHANNON – Los Angeles – 2007

I was in San Antonio, TX, for work.  We were doing a lighting retrofit,
which consists in changing most or all of the existing lighting to more
energy efficient, longer lasting technology.  There were three locations we
had to visit.  I did not get to bed until close to 1:30am local time on the 9th.  I shared a room with our staff electrician, a guy about my  father’s age named Doug, who snored.

I woke up at 3:45am to return to the three locations.  We finished before noon; Doug left me at the airport around 12pm.  My flight did not leave
until close to 5pm and I had an improv show in LA at 8pm.  I could not
catch an earlier flight, and I would have just enough time, as long as
traffic wasn’t too bad, to get there.

During the five hours I spent wandering the airport, trying to catch up
on some sleep, reading, checking emails, I took a crap in a public restroom,
which is a pretty rare occurrence.  I never used to shit in public toilets
altogether, but I have grown more accommodating as I have gotten older.
